At 12:31 PM, May 28, China Eastern Airlines (CEA) flight MU 9191 took to the air. China’s passenger jet, the Comac C919, soared over the Yangtze Delta on its maiden commercial flight from Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport to Beijing. A new era in global aviation had begun.
The inaugural flight was piloted by ZHAO Hongbing, general manager of CEA’s C919 department.
The C919’s interior combines technology and Chinese culture, offering passengers a unique travel experience. With the aircraft’s entry into commercial operation, the quality of design and production will be tested by both passengers and crew with improvements and a constant guiding light.
Initially, the C919 will operate the Shanghai-Chengdu route, one of the CEA’s key connections.
